An open meeting for people interested in the Gene Ontology project will be held at the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus in Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, UK on September 9, 2002, immediately following the joint Wellcome Trust-Cold Spring Harbor Genome Informatics meeting.
This is an opportunity to hear about the incorporation of GO into various annotation pipelines, to report on your use of GO, to review the GO project goals and procedures, and to meet with other developers and users of GO.
We are interested in your suggestions for presentations or desired workshops. You may enter these on the Registration Form or send them to go@geneontology.org. At the meeting, we will provide demonstrations of GO annotation tools, discussion of current implementation of GO and future development plans.

Program:
|
|
At the Hinxton GO Users Meeting, the schedule will include talks, panel discussions, and workshops on various aspects of developing and using GO. The topics covered will depend on the interests of those who attend; possible topics include:
-
Annotating Gene Products
-
Using GO Tools (for curators/annotators)
-
Novel Applications of GO Vocabularies
-
Developing GO Software (for programmers)
We welcome further suggestions, so if there is a topic you would like to see covered, please send ideas to go@geneontology.org.
Topics will include
annotating gene products with GO terms, using tools developed by
the GO consortium, and novel applications of the GO
vocabularies. For example, one workshop might focus on programming
applications for use with the GO database and other issues
connected with developing GO tools. We plan to hold a small poster
session as well. We hope this format will encourage discussion
and allow interested users to bring up their specific questions.
Topics will include:
applications that deal plugins for GOET
Annotating Gene Products
Using GO Tools -- Browsers
The schedule and abstracts are available as a PDF document.
