General Information and Registration

  An open meeting for people interested in the Gene Ontology project will be held in Bar Harbor, Maine on July 16, 2001. This is an opportunity to hear about the incorporation of the GO into various annotation pipelines, to report on your use of the GO, to review the GO project goals and procedures, and to meet with other developers and users of the GO.
  We are interested in your suggestions for presentations or desired workshops. You may enter these on the Registration Form or send them to go@geneontology.org. At the meeting, we will provide demonstrations of GO annotation tools, discussion of current implementation of the GO and future development plans.

Please register in advance so that we will know how many will be coming. We will limit the number of participants if necessary as dictated by the response.
 
There will be a registration fee of $100 to cover the costs of the meeting; this will include lunch. Travel to Bar Harbor

  General notes:
 
Bar Harbor is a six hour drive from Boston. It is also possible to fly directly to Bar Harbor or to Bangor, Maine.
  Flying to Bar Harbor, ME
 
If you want to fly into Bar Harbor, there is a small USAirExpress flight (Colgan Air ) that comes in 5x a day weekdays, 7x a day on the weekends in the summer. This flys only out of Boston. These are 17 seaters, so make your reservations early. The Bar Harbor airport is 10 miles outside of Bar Harbor and taxi service into town is available. Car rentals are available at the Bar Harbor airport as well. Please remember that this is the summer season in Bar Harbor, so book early.
  Flying to Bangor, ME:
 
Comair (Delta), AmericanEagle (AA), USAir all fly into Bangor (BGR). Bangor is about an hour's drive from Bar Harbor. In July, there will be a shuttle service that runs 4 x / day between Bangor and Bar Harbor; this summer's schedule is not available yet. Last year this cost $25 each way. Car rentals are available at the Bangor Airport from the regular assortment of companies.

  Atlantic Oakes By-The-Sea:
 
This is a hotel on the water, on the edge of Bar Harbor, and adjacent to College of the Atlantic, where the open meeting will be held. From here, you can also walk into town, which is less than 1 mile away. The phone number is 1-207-288-5801.
  Acadia Inn:
 
This hotel is across the street from the Atlantic Oakes By-The-Sea. Though not right on the water, it is slightly newer. The phone numbers are 1-207-288-3500 and 1-800-638-3636.
